My film of Basquiat at Louisiana Museum 2026

I’ve been making more time for my own creative projects recently, alongside the day-to-day work of running a design studio. Film is something I’ve been increasingly drawn to, and I’m enjoying the opportunity to explore it in my own way.

This video is from a visit to Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk, about 20 miles north of Copenhagen, on a snowy day in January 2026.

The excellent Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibition was on, and as a huge fan of his work, it was a particularly memorable visit.

Basquiat is one of those artists whose work is almost impossible to borrow from. His visual language is so distinctive that trying to use it as inspiration can quickly become an exercise in producing a poor imitation. Better to appreciate it for what it is.

The exhibition included a lot of his sketches and works on paper, offering a glimpse of the roughness, energy and thinking behind the finished paintings. That was a particular highlight for me.

The film is as much about the experience of visiting Louisiana as it is about the exhibition itself. The architecture, the setting, the art and the atmosphere of the place.

I’m interested in finding my own approach to filmmaking, combining images, sound, music and editing to tell a story. It’s another way of thinking visually, and one I’m keen to keep exploring.
