Eyesea – Mapping Maritime Pollution
Eyesea is a nonprofit organisation with a mission to map global pollution and maritime hazards. Initially focused on the shipping industry, the project has since grown into a wide-reaching environmental initiative supported by a global network of volunteers and partners.
Visual Identity & Logo Design
From the outset, the aim was to create a brand that communicated clarity, purpose, and scale. I designed the original logo — a clean, minimal combination of a fish and an eye — in close collaboration with Eyesea’s founder. The symbol reflects both the environmental focus and the observational nature of the project, while remaining flexible across digital and physical applications.
The visual identity was built to appear professional, trustworthy, and established — helping Eyesea feel larger than it was in its early days. As the organisation grew, the identity grew with it, standing up to the demands of international communication and NGO partnerships.
Website & Imagery
I designed and built the first iteration of Eyesea’s website, structured to support both public engagement and industry outreach. The design deliberately avoided overly bleak imagery of pollution. Instead, it focused on the beauty of the world we’re working to protect — paired with maritime visuals to signal the target audience. A consistent blue tint was applied across all imagery to tie the brand together visually.
Motion Design & Communications Support
I also created an early explainer video to help introduce Eyesea’s concept to a wider audience — providing a clear, confident first impression for funders, partners, and volunteers.
Ongoing Collaboration
I worked with Eyesea from its founding, providing ongoing design support and advice as the organisation grew up until mid 2025. It was a genuine privilege to contribute, even in a small way, to a project doing such vital environmental work on a global scale.
